In a recent appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast, Rapsody delved into the recent feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, highlighting Lamar’s strategic approach as a key factor in his perceived victory.
The discussion kicked off with Budden pointing out Lamar’s underrated diss track “6:16 in LA,” which Rapsody agreed was a smart move. She noted that while Drake did retaliate, Lamar’s swift response and the quality of his counterattack were crucial. According to Rapsody, Lamar’s strategic timing and ability to deliver a hit song quickly after the initial diss played a significant role in his perceived success in the feud.
Rapsody emphasized the importance of studying the “art of war” in such situations, suggesting that while Drake’s responses were not lacking, Lamar’s strategy and execution were superior. She also touched on the patience required in these situations, drawing a comparison to Nas’s response to JAY-Z’s “Takeover” with the iconic diss track “Ether.”
This is not the first time Rapsody has discussed the feud. Previously, when J. Cole was still involved in the beef, she shared her thoughts on the matter during an appearance on The Bootleg Kev Podcast. Regarding Cole’s decision to apologize, Rapsody acknowledged it as his personal choice but expressed her admiration for the competitive spirit of hip-hop feuds.
As the feud between Drake and Lamar continues to unfold, fans can expect further insights and commentary from Rapsody, who offers a unique perspective on the dynamics of rap battles and strategic maneuvers in the music industry.
