In a viral TikTok video, UK-based Ugandan singer Guvnor Ace has made startling accusations against the renowned musician Joseph Mayanja, popularly known as Jose Chameleone. Guvnor Ace alleges that Chameleone brutally assaulted him in 2013 at Torino Bar Kololo , leaving him for dead. The incident, according to Ace, reflects a disturbing pattern of violence that Chameleone has exhibited toward people he perceives as less valuable, even extending to his own family.

Ace, who is now calling for justice, says he is in the process of gathering credible information from others who have been victims of Chameleone’s violent acts. “It’s time for these horrors to stop. Chameleone has hurt too many people, and yet he continues to be protected,” Ace said, implying that the musician enjoys the backing of President Yoweri Museveni, who has ruled Uganda for over 40 years. According to Ace, this protection has allowed Chameleone to evade justice for years, despite multiple allegations of abuse.

These revelations come after Daniella Atim, Chameleone’s estranged wife, took to social media earlier this year to speak out about the domestic violence she endured during their 16-year marriage. Daniella’s Instagram post shocked many as she revealed how Chameleone physically and emotionally abused her, forcing her to flee to the United States in 2019 with their five children.

The couple, who legalized their union in a grand wedding ceremony in 2007, had always kept their troubles away from public view. However, Daniella’s 2017 departure from Chameleone’s home and subsequent divorce filing at Nakawa Magistrate Court marked the end of their marriage. Though they attempted reconciliation, Daniella eventually relocated to the U.S., distancing herself from the singer. Her cryptic posts over the years hinted at the couple’s troubled past, but it wasn’t until 2023 that she fully opened up about the abuse.

In a recent Instagram post, Daniella described the years of torture she endured and voiced her support for the fight against domestic violence. “I moved to the US exactly five years ago and sought asylum from many things, including domestic violence that I endured for 16 years,” she wrote, adding that she is now a single mother raising her five children on her own.

Chameleone has also been accused of involvement in the suspicious death of Robert Karamagi in 2012. Karamagi was found badly burned at Chameleone’s home and later died at Mulago Hospital. Major Benedict Kyamanywa, Karamagi’s father, has been actively seeking justice for his son, accusing the Ugandan legal system of mishandling the case. Despite witness statements implicating Chameleone, the case file was mysteriously closed without the singer facing trial.

The Ugandan Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has since reopened the file, but the case remains unresolved. Kyamanywa continues to push for the prosecution of those responsible for his son’s death, with fresh evidence expected to be presented.

As accusations against Chameleone continue to surface, many wonder how long his alleged violent actions will go unchecked. For Guvnor Ace and Daniella Atim, speaking out is a first step toward justice, but whether it will lead to any legal repercussions for the famed singer remains to be seen.

The controversy surrounding Jose Chameleone’s legacy is growing, and both his fans and critics are left questioning the truth behind the violence that shadows his fame.
