Ugandan Judge Lydia Mugambe Arrested in UK on Modern Slavery Charges
Thames Valley Police has formally charged Lydia Mugambe, 49, of Lyne Road, Kidlington, in connection with a modern slavery investigation based in Oxfordshire. Mugambe faces multiple charges, including conspiracy to facilitate the breach of UK immigration laws by a non-UK national, arranging or facilitating another person’s travel for exploitation, and requiring an individual to engage in forced or compulsory labor.
The charges, authorized by the Crown Prosecution Service, were brought against Mugambe on August 7. The case is linked to an ongoing investigation concerning one identified victim.
Mugambe’s trial is scheduled for February 10, 2025, at Oxford Crown Court, with proceedings expected to continue for three weeks.
