Attempted Robbery Thwarted at Equity Bank Soroti Branch

Police successfully prevented a robbery at the Equity Bank Soroti Branch early Tuesday morning. According to a public notice from the bank’s management, the incident, though distressing, resulted in no loss of money, property, or lives. The bank has since resumed normal operations.

The notice detailed that armed individuals attempted to enter the bank’s premises, but thanks to the prompt response from security forces, including the police and the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF), the attempt was foiled. The suspects fled the scene after failing to gain access to the banking hall.

The bank expressed apologies for any inconvenience caused by the incident and reassured the public that the branch is secure. Police and local authorities are conducting ongoing investigations into the attempted robbery. Equity Bank emphasized that the safety of their clients and staff is a priority and confirmed that banking services have continued without disruption.
