Today, National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, delivered a stirring message in Buikwe as part of his ongoing #NUPCountryWideTour, commemorating the sacrifices of Ugandans who have fought tirelessly for a vision of a free and just nation. Bobi Wine’s speech drew a powerful contrast between the courage of those who have given their all for Uganda’s freedom and the actions of certain leaders whom he accuses of prioritizing wealth and power over justice.

In his address, Bobi Wine condemned leaders who, in pursuit of personal gain, have aligned themselves with forces that have “destroyed our economy, killed and imprisoned Ugandans for speaking out, and robbed this country clean.” He criticized these individuals for abandoning the fight for justice and the people’s welfare, choosing instead to ally with a regime he holds responsible for Uganda’s economic and political crises.

“We remember the sacrifices and courage of those who have given everything for the dream of a free Uganda,” Bobi Wine declared. “For money, some leaders now identify with those who oppress our people, but our struggle is not about individuals; it is about a people determined to be free.”

Despite the challenges and betrayals, Bobi Wine’s message was one of hope and resilience. He emphasized that the movement for freedom and justice transcends any individual and is sustained by the collective determination of Ugandans. He assured his supporters that NUP’s mission remains steadfast: to achieve a New Uganda where every citizen’s rights and aspirations are honored.

“We take comfort in the reality that the struggle is not about individuals; it is about a people determined to be free. We will continue the fight, with or without those who betray us,” Bobi Wine added, igniting applause from the crowd. “We will march forward, honoring the sacrifices of those we have lost and holding onto the dream they died for.”

Bobi Wine’s speech in Buikwe reflects a broader sentiment within Uganda’s opposition movements, where there is growing frustration with leaders perceived as having compromised their principles for personal gain. His message resonated deeply with supporters, who view his commitment to the struggle as unwavering amidst various pressures and challenges.

NUP’s vision of a “New Uganda” is rooted in promises of accountability, economic reform, and respect for human rights—principles that Bobi Wine believes remain achievable through the continued unity and determination of the Ugandan people.

“We will keep fighting with every Ugandan who still believes in a brighter future,” Bobi Wine concluded. “We will keep fighting until we have a New Uganda that works for every citizen!”

The rally in Buikwe was yet another reminder of the enduring spirit of Uganda’s opposition movement, as Bobi Wine and his supporters press on with their message of hope, resilience, and unrelenting pursuit of freedom and justice.
