A group of Boda Boda cyclists in Soroti City seized over 500 plastic chairs marked with ‘Joan Alobo Achom’ in protest of unpaid allowances. These chairs, provided by the Woman MP for public functions, were taken from Soroti Independence Square meant for mourners paying respects to the late legislator Barbra Cecilia Atim Ogwal. The cyclists claim they were promised Shs20,000 each but were not paid, expressing frustration with alleged attempts to swindle their money. Some accused MP Alobo of dealing with individuals with ill intentions, calling for a reshuffle of her aides. After the scuffle, over 100 cyclists took chairs to their homes. MP Alobo, recovering from the trauma of losing a colleague, urged calm, attributing the incident to malice aimed at tarnishing her reputation. She emphasized the importance of residents appreciating the donated facilities without attaching individual incidents to her public contributions.
