ChopGaming’s BetPawa Recognized at URA Awards
Chop Gaming Ltd, operating as BetPawa in Uganda, secured the runner-up position at the Excel Award during the Taxpayers Appreciation Awards Ceremony organized by the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).
Acknowledging the honor, Mr. Allan Tumushabe, ChopGaming’s MD in Uganda, emphasized the company’s exceptional contribution to revenue mobilization and youth empowerment. Founded by Mr Eazi, the Nigerian singer and businessman, ChopGaming, through its subsidiary BetPawa, has played a crucial role in shaping the betting industry.
The Taxpayer Appreciation Season (TPAS) by URA aims to recognize compliant taxpayers for their pivotal role in revenue mobilization and promote service excellence. ChopGaming’s commitment to innovation, customer satisfaction, and responsible gambling has not only contributed to revenue but also fostered economic growth and employment opportunities.
Mr. Tumushabe highlighted the company’s dedication to upholding compliance standards, stating that the recognition serves as motivation to continue their pursuit of excellence and innovation in the betting industry.
URA Chairman Juma Kisaame applauded compliant taxpayers for contributing to the transformational revenue mobilization, noting URA’s outstanding performance with 100.23% growth in the financial year 2022/2023. Finance Minister Matia Kasaija urged URA to increase the tax-to-GDP ratio, emphasizing self-sufficiency in funding the national budget.
The Taxpayers Appreciation Awards Ceremony, held at the URA Tower Nakawa, brought together industry leaders, private sector players, and government officials to celebrate and honor top taxpayers.
