Evangelical Orthodox Church’ Bishop Jacinto Kibuuka Mourns Tamale Mirundi

The Evangelical Orthodox Church Uganda (EOC) has expressed deep sorrow following the death of Joseph Tamale Mirundi, a notable Ugandan political and media figure

. Mirundi, who passed away on Tuesday evening at the age of 60, was widely respected for his roles as a former press secretary to the president and President of the Uganda Journalists Association (UJA).

In a statement, Most Reverend Jacinto Kibuuka, the Presiding Bishop of EOC Uganda, paid tribute to Mirundi’s significant contributions.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Mr. Mirundi, who was not only a distinguished public figure but also a courageous defender of truth. His support for our church and his frequent visits to the Mamre Prayer Centre in Janda, Namugongo, were greatly valued,” Bishop Kibuuka stated.

Bishop Kibuuka remembered Mirundi as a dedicated researcher who stood by the truth despite facing intimidation. “Mr. Mirundi’s unwavering commitment to truth and his willingness to defend it were hallmarks of his character,” he added.

The church extends its deepest sympathies to Mirundi’s family and friends, acknowledging the profound impact of his passing. His burial is scheduled for Sunday, August 18, 2024, in his ancestral village of Kalagala, Kaliisizo, Rakai District. Mirundi’s legacy of service, advocacy, and courage will continue to inspire those he touched throughout his life.
