The family of Wambi Peter, a supporter of the National Unity Platform (NUP), is demanding his immediate release following his arrest by security officials. The incident, which took place in broad daylight, has sparked outrage and concern about the increasing trend of abductions and human rights violations in Uganda.

Eyewitnesses reported that Wambi Peter was apprehended by security officers and forcibly taken away, leaving his family and the local community in shock and distress. His family, who have since been frantically searching for him, have called on the authorities to disclose his whereabouts and ensure his safety.

The National Unity Platform has condemned the arrest, highlighting it as part of a larger pattern of intimidation and repression against opposition supporters. The party’s spokesperson emphasized the urgent need for accountability and the protection of fundamental human rights in Uganda.

“We demand the immediate release of Wambi Peter,” said the spokesperson. “His unlawful detention is a clear violation of his rights, and we will not rest until he is returned to his family.”

The abduction of Wambi Peter is not an isolated case. Numerous reports have surfaced of NUP supporters and other political activists being arrested or disappearing under suspicious circumstances. These actions have raised serious concerns among human rights organizations and the international community about the state of democracy and rule of law in Uganda.

Wambi Peter’s family has reported his disappearance to the police and is working closely with human rights groups to locate him. They are appealing to the government to uphold justice and protect its citizens from such arbitrary actions.

In response to the growing number of such incidents, NUP and other civil society organizations are planning peaceful demonstrations and legal actions to demand the release of Wambi Peter and other political detainees. They are calling on Ugandans and the international community to stand with them in their quest for justice and the protection of human rights.

As the family of Wambi Peter awaits any news of his fate, their message is clear: “Bring him back, safe and unharmed.” Their plea resonates with many who have experienced similar losses, underscoring the urgent need for reforms and accountability in Uganda.
