Father of the Late Isma Olaxess Reflects on Son’s Life and Struggles with Infertility

In a heartfelt interview, Hajji Muhammad Kasajja shared personal details about his son, the late Isma Olaxess, who was tragically killed by unknown assailants in 2023. Hajji Muhammad reminisced about Isma’s childhood, which was marked by a close relationship with his grandfather who, alongside Hajji Muhammad, worked diligently to instill discipline in him despite his stubborn nature.

As he matured, Isma Olaxess became a pillar of support for his siblings, offering help whenever needed, regardless of the fact that they were from different mothers. His father proudly noted that Isma’s selflessness extended beyond family; he was also generous with his friends, sharing his resources willingly, which made him beloved by many.

However, Isma faced personal challenges that deeply affected him. According to his father, Isma was often troubled by his inability to have children, a situation that brought him considerable distress. “One day, he came to me crying and asked, ‘Dad, will I ever be able to have children?’” recalled Hajji Muhammad. This question highlights the profound impact this issue had on his emotional well-being.

Isma Olaxess’s life came to a sudden end when he was shot near his home in Kyanjja, where he was renting. His death left a community in mourning, bereft of a vocal and spirited individual who never hesitated to express his views on various societal issues.
