Toronto, ON – Global Events Canada has officially announced the dates for its highly anticipated 3rd Annual Healthcare & Social Work Conference and Career Fair, set to take place on Friday, June 19th, and Saturday, June 20th, 2026, at Toronto Metropolitan University. This year, the conference will not only continue its legacy of fostering innovation and collaboration in healthcare and social services but will also introduce a groundbreaking addition: the Community Health & Integrated Social Care Fair.

Building on the Legacy of 2025

The upcoming event builds on the resounding success of the 2025 International Conference on Healthcare & Social Work, which was held under the theme “Health in a Social Perspective.” Last year’s edition attracted more than 1,600 participants, bringing together academics, policymakers, healthcare providers, and social workers for critical discussions on integrated healthcare models, the social determinants of health, and the persistent challenges faced by internationally trained professionals in the Canadian workforce.

Equally significant was the career fair component, which connected job seekers to a wide range of employers, including the City of Toronto and Health PEI. Unlike many similar events, the conference and career fair were self-funded by Global Events Canada, underscoring the organization’s commitment to building sustainable, community-driven initiatives in the healthcare and social work sectors.

Introducing the Community Health & Integrated Social Care Fair

The most exciting development for 2026 is the launch of the Community Health & Integrated Social Care Fair, envisioned as a vibrant community-centered festival that combines health promotion, workforce development, and social service access.

This new initiative comes at a critical time when Canadians continue to face barriers in accessing comprehensive healthcare and integrated social support. By bringing health screenings, mental wellness resources, employment opportunities, and social services under one roof, the Fair seeks to bridge systemic gaps while strengthening social cohesion.

Key features of the Fair include:

  • Free Health Screenings: Accessible on-site checks for blood pressure, blood sugar, and vision, with expanded services including HIV rapid testing and confidential counseling aimed at promoting sexual health.

  • Blood Donation Drive: In collaboration with Canadian Blood Services, organizers aim to collect more than 200 units of blood per event to address shortages in the national blood supply.

  • Mental Wellness Hub: A space dedicated to mental health, featuring workshops on stress management and mindfulness, along with private one-on-one consultations with trained professionals.

  • “Social Impact Career Zone”: Designed to combat workforce shortages by directly linking job seekers with employers such as Brookside Staffing Agency. The goal is to facilitate 200+ direct employment connections and at least 50 successful interview placements per event.

  • Integrated Social Care Workshops: Informative sessions providing community members with guidance on navigating essential support systems, including housing, food security programs, and legal aid.

Measurable Impact and Long-term Goals

Global Events Canada has outlined clear and ambitious targets for the Community Health & Integrated Social Care Fair. These include conducting over 1,500 free health screenings, distributing more than 5,000 condoms, and engaging upwards of 800 participants in workshops and resource fairs at each event.

The model is inherently collaborative, calling for partnerships with municipal health units, local hospitals, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies. Organizers stress that the Fair is not intended as a one-off effort, but as a long-term, sustainable investment in the health, well-being, and resilience of Canadian communities.

“Access to healthcare and social support is not just a policy issue—it’s a community issue,” said a spokesperson for Global Events Canada. “With this new initiative, we are creating a space where health, wellness, employment, and social care intersect, ensuring no one is left behind.”

Looking Ahead

As Canada continues to grapple with issues such as healthcare worker shortages, mental health crises, and inequities in access to services, events like the Healthcare & Social Work Conference and the new Community Health & Integrated Social Care Fair are increasingly vital. They not only provide platforms for professional dialogue and career advancement but also serve as practical interventions that bring direct benefits to the public.

With its proven ability to convene diverse stakeholders and deliver measurable community impact, Global Events Canada is positioning the 2026 edition of the conference as more than just an event — it is a movement toward a healthier, more equitable future.
