Stephen Mubiru, Head of Mission, officiated as Chief Guest at the Uganda Economic Forum held in Vienna, an event organized in conjunction with the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber. The high-level forum brought together key stakeholders from Austria and Uganda to explore investment opportunities, strengthen trade ties, and deepen bilateral economic cooperation.
The forum attracted distinguished members of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, members of the business community from both Austria and Uganda, and the Austrian Ambassador to Uganda (non-resident). The gathering provided a dynamic platform for dialogue, networking, and the exchange of ideas aimed at fostering sustainable partnerships between the two countries.
In his keynote address, Ambassador Mubiru underscored Uganda’s strategic position as a gateway to the East African market, highlighting the country’s favorable investment climate, abundant natural resources, and ongoing infrastructure development. He emphasized priority sectors including agro-processing, energy, tourism, manufacturing, ICT, and mineral development as areas ripe for Austrian investment and collaboration.
Ambassador Mubiru reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for foreign investors through policy reforms, investment protection frameworks, and public-private partnerships. He encouraged Austrian businesses to explore opportunities in Uganda, noting the country’s young and skilled workforce, expanding regional market access, and stable macroeconomic outlook.
Participants engaged in productive discussions on trade facilitation, technology transfer, industrial cooperation, and value addition. The presence of high-profile business leaders reflected growing interest in enhancing Austria–Uganda commercial relations and leveraging each country’s comparative advantages.
The Uganda Economic Forum concluded with renewed optimism and a shared commitment to translating dialogue into tangible investments and long-term partnerships that will benefit both nations.
