Jinja NUP leader dead as 3 machete Men attack
Three machete assaults have killed Joseph Kitawu, the deputy coordinator for the National Unity Platform (NUP) in Jinja District’s Kagoma North constituency. Two additional victims have been hospitalized as a result of the attacks.
According to Gerald Ssentembo, the area LC1 Secretary for Defense, Kitawu, a cattle trader, was attacked as he approached his home in Magamaga village, Buwenge Rural sub-county.
“Kitawu was hacked and his body was dumped in the Magamaga marsh after he was strangled. Mr. Ssentembo stated over the weekend that “he must have died in pain,” adding that even though he is the Secretary of Defense, his life is in jeopardy because of the horrific killing of his tenant.
Nicolas Nkola, the chairperson of the Buwenge Town Council NUP, stated that the deceased was amiable to nearly everyone, including members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), and had recently formed a football team.
In a related incident, criminals purportedly riding on motorcycles attacked and chopped Brian Mwandale, the speaker of the Buwenge Rural sub-county council, as he was making his way home in Kyerinda village.
Mwandale was taken to a clinic in Buwenge Town Council after being discovered unconscious in a blood puddle close to his residence.
Speaking to the locals, Jinja District Speaker Monica Namukose Kamagu stated that Mwandale was subsequently critically admitted to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital.
She also requested that the Police investigate the attacks on the terrified inhabitants as soon as possible and submit a report.
A third machete victim, a butcher, was attacked at Mutai Trading Center and was sent to Mulago Hospital after receiving significant slashes on his head, according to Jinja Resident District Commissioner Richard Gulume.
