Jumia Uganda Kicks Off Black Friday 2023 with Unprecedented Deals

Jumia Uganda launched its highly anticipated Black Friday campaign for 2023 on Tuesday, offering customers the opportunity to purchase products at significantly reduced prices.

This year’s Black Friday event, themed “Save More Than Money,” is set to provide a bigger, better, and more impactful shopping experience, promising exceptional savings to valued customers.

Vinod Goel, CEO of Jumia Uganda, expressed the company’s strengthened position in terms of growth and improved unit economics during the launch held at Fairway Hotel Kampala.

“Jumia has witnessed substantial growth across various product categories. We’re expanding our focus beyond electronics to encompass books, sports, music, kids’ products, ensuring a wide array of offerings to delight our customers across all categories,” said Goel.

He highlighted the success of their strategy to broaden their reach beyond Kampala, witnessing significant revenue growth outside the capital.

“Our sharp shipping fees, reduced delivery timelines, relevant assortment for upcountry markets, and a network of over 5000 active J Force agents have contributed to making Jumia a preferred shopping platform in upcountry markets,” Goel added.

The CEO underlined the impact of their digital and trade initiatives, noting that over 6,000 sellers and 800 restaurant partners utilize Jumia’s web and mobile applications for their business operations, enabling digital management of inventory, pricing, promotions, and financials.

Goel emphasized the company’s digital engagement, including a network of 600 delivery associates using digital platforms for order acceptance, navigation, online payments, compensation handling, and feedback.

Highlighting Jumia’s influence as a leading digital marketing destination, Goel pointed out the platform’s substantial monthly active users of over 550,000, reflecting a relevant economic and demographic profile.

For this year’s Black Friday edition, Jumia has partnered with DFCU and Stanbic banks to offer additional discounts on purchases via Bank Visa transactions. Collaborations with Hisensel, SPJ, Aiwa, Danone, and Sky have brought exclusive offers. Additionally, partnerships with Fairway Hotels, Sheraton Hotels, Nyege Nyege, and Century Cinema have been established.

Jumia also extended gratitude to its partners and consumers for their continuous support during its 11 years of service in Uganda.

Listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in 2019, Jumia is the leading e-commerce company in Africa, operating in 11 countries. It comprises a marketplace, logistics service, and a payment service, JumiaPay, offering a range of goods across various categories.
