Lil Wayne Premieres Two New Songs on Young Money Radio with 2 Chainz Ahead of Album Release
Lil Wayne inaugurated a fresh season of Young Money radio by unveiling two new tracks from the upcoming album with 2 Chainz.
Returning to the Apple Music airwaves on Friday (October 27), Wayne and Chainz presented “Long Story Short” and the track “Oprah and Gayle,” featuring Benny The Butcher. Both songs are slated to be part of the forthcoming project, “Welcome 2 ColleGrove,” scheduled for release on November 17.
Benny The Butcher joined in on their on-air discussion, expressing admiration for the seasoned duo and his learning experience working with them. He shared his thoughts on the collaboration, mentioning, “I’m trying to impress these guys, man, and show these guys like, ‘Man, thanks for calling me, giving me nine to come get on this track, man.’”
He further explained the creative process behind his contribution to the song: “If I could think of something in the first 25 seconds, that means it’s a heater, and I’m just trying to make sure I’m bringing something…with these giants on this record.”
Regarding the track’s name “Oprah and Gayle,” Benny highlighted his involvement in naming the song through his lyrics. He expressed excitement, stating, “That was my last line. So that’s dope that my last line kind of named the song. So that’s fire.”
Last week, Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, sharing stories about their long-standing friendship. They reminisced on their initial encounter at an Atlanta studio, where they formed an instant connection.
In a recent interview with HipHopDX, Master P also showered Lil Wayne with praise, acknowledging Wayne’s talent and greatness, stating, “Lil Wayne, I mean, he’s the G.O.A.T.” He lauded Wayne’s lyrical prowess and talent, highlighting the significance of artists like Wayne from Louisiana in the global music landscape.
