Tina Knowles, mother of global icon Beyoncé, took to Instagram on Sunday night to announce the passing of her brother, Rowland Martin Buyince, at the age of 77. In a heartfelt tribute, Knowles reflected on her brother’s life, highlighting his career in the Air Force, his passion for motorcycles and karate, and his role as a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.

“My Beautiful big brother Butch went to be with God this weekend. I will miss him so much!” Knowles wrote in the caption of her Instagram post. “He was greatly loved. Sail on Butch. Rowland Martin (Butch) Buyince’ June 1946 – Feb 2024 RIP.”

The loss of her uncle comes at a poignant moment for Beyoncé as she prepares for the release of her upcoming album, Act II. Earlier this month, Beyoncé surprised fans with the release of two singles that showcased her venture into country music, signaling a new artistic direction for the Grammy-winning artist.

In the wake of her brother’s passing, Tina Knowles shared insights into her family’s deep connection to cowboy culture, emphasizing its significance in their upbringing in Texas. She explained how the family embraced cowboy culture, with annual rodeo outings and a fashion sense influenced by Western attire. Knowles also highlighted Solange’s artistic exploration of Black cowboy culture in her music and projects.

In addition to her music endeavors, Beyoncé recently collaborated with her mother on the launch of CÉCRED, a hair care line aimed at providing inclusive and innovative hair care solutions.
