Two injured, 5 detained as police disperse NUP meeting

In a recent incident in western Uganda, tensions flared as police dispersed a meeting organized by the National Unity Platform (NUP), resulting in injuries and detentions. The incident occurred in  during a scheduled meeting of NUP supporters and party members. According to eyewitness accounts, the meeting was underway peacefully when police officers arrived at the scene and ordered the dispersal of the gathering, citing alleged violations of public order regulations.

As tensions escalated, clashes broke out between attendees and police officers, resulting in injuries to at least two individuals. Reports indicate that attendees were subjected to tear gas and physical force as authorities attempted to disperse the crowd and restore order. The chaotic scenes witnessed during the confrontation underscored the simmering tensions between opposition groups and law enforcement in Uganda.

In addition to the injuries sustained during the altercation, five individuals were detained by police in connection with the incident.
