A$AP Yams Remembered on Ninth Anniversary of His Passing

Fans and loved ones of A$AP Yams paid tribute to the late visionary and A$AP Mob co-founder on the ninth anniversary of his passing. Among those commemorating the occasion was Yams’ mother, Tatianna Paulino, who shared a heartfelt message on Instagram alongside a childhood photo of her son.

In her caption, originally written in Spanish, Paulino expressed the devastating impact of the past nine years without her beloved son. She reminisced about the heartbreak she experienced on that fateful night and wished to turn back time to hug and express her love to Yams once again. Paulino thanked her family, friends, and Yams’ friends for their support, acknowledging their crucial role in helping her navigate the difficult years. She pledged to continue Yams’ legacy and concluded with a celebration of Yams’ life, wishing him a “HAPPY YAMS DAY.”

In a subsequent post, Paulino shared a photo of Yams’ tombstone adorned with a floral arrangement shaped like an Air Jordan 1.

A$AP Yams, born Steven Rodriguez, passed away at the age of 26 on January 18, 2015. The New York City chief medical examiner ruled his death as an accidental overdose due to acute mixed drug intoxication.

Reflecting on the tragic day in a 2022 Interview Magazine conversation, A$AP Rocky recounted discovering Yams’ unresponsive body in his Brooklyn apartment. Despite the somber circumstances, Rocky shared a lighthearted moment involving A$AP Lou sliding down the hall like a cartoon character as they rushed to help Yams.

Rocky acknowledged the lasting impact of Yams’ death, expressing grief and sadness. In subsequent interviews, he revealed the deep emotional toll and the irreplaceable void left by Yams, emphasizing their shared experiences and the unique bond they had in navigating the challenges of the music industry.
