Buganda Kingdom Mourns as Venetia Sebudandi’s Funeral Set for November 18
The Buganda Kingdom is in mourning following the passing of Ambassador Venetia Sebudandi, one of the wives of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II. The fallen ambassador will be laid to rest on Saturday, November 18, 2023, as announced by the Kingdom.
Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, the second deputy prime minister, disclosed that the send-off ceremony, in which Buganda Kingdom will participate, will honor Venetia Sebudandi, who was the mother of Prince Jjunju Chrispin Suuna.
Expressing condolences, Waggwa noted that Sebudandi’s demise has created a significant void within the Buganda Kingdom. He eulogized her as a person of kindness, humility, and respect, always ready to assist those who approached her.
Venetia Sebudandi passed away on November 13th, 2023, in Kigali, Rwanda, after battling illness. Her final resting place will be her ancestral home in Rusororo, Rwanda, on Saturday, November 18, 2023.

The late ambassador had a distinguished career, serving as the permanent representative of Rwanda to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Rwandan ambassador to Russia, and holding positions at the Rwandan Embassy in Paris. She also served as Deputy Chief of Mission and Director of State Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Rwanda.

Born on October 29, 1954, in Rwanda, Venetia Sebudandi earned a diploma in education from Makerere University and a Master’s in diplomatic studies from the University of Westminster in the United Kingdom.
