Muwonge Joseph : Ritual Murderer Arrested in Witchdoctor’s Shrine After Death of Wife

In a chilling turn of events, Muwonge Joseph alias Kisenyi, the man suspected of brutally murdering his 19-year-old wife, Nakamatte Jesca, in what appears to be a ritualistic act, has been apprehended in a witchdoctor’s shrine. The arrest took place at a shrine owned by Ssalongo Lwanga Simon in Kawaala village, Kagele parish, Sekanyonyi Town Council, Mityana district.

Rachael Kawala, the Public Relations Officer for Wamala, released a statement today, November 16th, revealing the arrest following a tip-off from concerned residents. Alongside Muwonge Joseph, the 56-year-old witchdoctor, Lwanga Simon, has also been taken into custody. Both are currently being held at Mityana CPS.

The gruesome incident unfolded on November 7, 2023, when the police received information about the discovery of Nakamatte Jesca’s decomposed body. The 19-year-old victim was found in an advanced state of decay within rental properties owned by Nnaku Rose in Kitavujja LC1, Sekanyonyi Town Council, Mityana district.

Initial investigations pointed towards a potential connection between the tragic murder and domestic violence, with Muwonge Joseph Kisenyi, the husband of the deceased, emerging as the primary suspect. The grim nature of the crime was exacerbated by the discovery that certain body parts, including the nose and tongue, were missing from the victim.

Rachael Kawala stated that Muwonge’s case will be submitted to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for further guidance and possible legal action. The shocking incident highlights the urgency of addressing issues related to domestic violence and the dark underbelly of ritualistic crimes in the community.
