Chris Brown Ordered to Pay Backup Dancer $15K for On-Set Injury
Renowned for his extravagant music videos, Chris Brown faces the consequences of a costly lawsuit filed by backup dancer Danielle Griffin. The lawsuit, initiated in 2019, alleged that Griffin suffered injuries while filming Brown’s “High End” video, and despite being ignored initially, the court has now ruled in her favor.
Griffin’s lawsuit detailed the incident on the set in 2017, where she was approached by a member of the wardrobe department with fake blood. Despite expressing concerns about potential harm without eye protection, Griffin was reassured of its safety. However, the aftermath proved otherwise.
Following the shoot, Griffin experienced health issues and sought medical treatment. Photos circulating online depicted her swollen eyes leaking pus, indicative of severe complications from the fake blood exposure. The injuries forced Griffin into months of recovery, resulting in lost job opportunities and her withdrawal from a master’s degree program. She also alleges a lack of assistance during her recovery period.
In a recent development, Brown has been ordered to pay Griffin nearly $15,000 in a default judgment, covering her medical expenses and other damages incurred due to the incident.
The ruling highlights the responsibility of artists and production crews to ensure the safety of all individuals involved in their projects. Griffin’s case serves as a reminder of the potential risks associated with on-set activities and the importance of prioritizing performer welfare during creative endeavors.
