Diamond Trust Bank Expands Presence with New Branch in Jinja City
As part of its strategic expansion to bring banking services closer to customers in the Busoga region, Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) has officially opened a new branch in Jinja City.
The inauguration ceremony, attended by DTB Uganda Chairman Board of Directors Azim Kassam, DTB Group CEO Nasim Devji, and senior management members, marks the addition of the 36th branch to DTB Group’s network in Uganda.
During the opening, Board Chairman Azim Kassam pledged a commitment to service excellence and providing products that meet customer needs. DTB Uganda’s CEO, Mr. Varghese Thambi, explained that the expansion aligns with the growing business and banking requirements of Jinja.

Thambi noted, “When we opened the branch 9 years ago, there were fewer active industries and production. Today, we see a busy industrial district in Jinja and a demand for wider banking space.”
The newly expanded branch in Jinja City includes a premium banking lounge, bulk tellers, two ATM machines, and dedicated service teams, supported by Digital Banking Channels.
Customers present at the unveiling expressed gratitude to DTB for addressing their needs. Businessman and DTB customer Mohamed Kato Nsubuga highlighted the improved banking experience, noting that the expansion will alleviate queues and provide more comfort for all customers.

DTB, a member of the Aga Khan Development Network, operates in Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, and Uganda. In Uganda alone, the bank boasts 36 branches, 54 ATMs, and over 1,000 agents.
