Drake raised eyebrows with a seemingly shaded remark directed at Rihanna during the kick-off of his “It’s All A Blur Tour — Big As The What?” in Tampa, Florida on Friday night. As his 2016 collaborative track with Rihanna, “Work,” started playing, Drake made a comment suggesting a change in his approach to the song: “I don’t sing this song anymore, but you [all] can sing it though.”

Drake had collaborated with Rihanna on “Work,” contributing to her eighth studio album, Anti. The song achieved considerable commercial success, holding the top spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 for nine weeks. Additionally, it received Grammy nominations for Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 59th Grammy Awards.

This isn’t the first instance where Drake has hinted at a strained relationship with Rihanna. In his track “Fear of Heights” from the project “For All The Dogs,” he appeared to allude to Rihanna and her album, Anti, with lyrics suggesting moving on: “Why they make it sound like I’m still hung up on you? / That could never be / Gyal can’t ruin me / Better him than me / Better it’s not me,” Drake raps. “I’m anti, I’m anti / Yeah, and the sex was average with you / Yeah, I’m anti ’cause I had it with you … / And I had way badder bitches than you, TBH.”

Drake and Rihanna reportedly had a brief relationship in 2016, which did not last. Currently, Rihanna is in a relationship with ASAP Rocky, and the couple recently welcomed their second child together. Stay tuned for more updates on the dynamics between Drake and Rihanna on HotNewHipHop.
