Hotel Owner in Kanungu District Apprehended in Connection with Employee’s Suspected Murder

In a significant development, the police in Kanungu District have taken into custody Justus Kananura, the proprietor of a hotel located in Kihihi town council, on suspicion of involvement in the alleged murder of his employee, Sam, a 25-year-old resident of Bugongo cell in Kihihi town council.

The incident, which was reported by Kananura, transpired on October 28, 2023, at 10:00 PM, when the victim was discovered unconscious along Barangaine road.

According to Kananura’s account, a thief who had unlawfully entered his hotel was reportedly being subjected to a fatal assault by a mob. Despite receiving immediate first aid at Kihihi Health Centre IV, the victim, identified as Sam, tragically succumbed to his injuries before being referred to either Kambuga or Bwindi hospital.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest of Kananura and indicated that ongoing investigations are being conducted to ascertain the details surrounding the incident and to shed light on the events leading to the tragic demise of the employee, Sam.
