Keipher Scott, better known as Korexion, hails from a family of exceptionally talented musicians in Jamaica. He has since made his way to Canada to continue this prodigious legacy. His musical education began in the heart of Trench Town, where he absorbed the soul and culture of true roots reggae.

Korexion’s childhood memories are steeped in the spirit of the late Bob Marley, with whom he shares his homeland neighborhood. Remarkably, the first guitar Korexion ever played belonged to Bob Marley himself. This heavy influence has shaped Korexion’s musical journey, leading him to perform annually in his hometown on Bob Marley’s birthday.

Growing up in the tough streets of Trench Town, where poverty, violence, and political strife were everyday realities, Korexion faced numerous obstacles. Despite these challenges, he remained determined to be a voice of change for people worldwide. Korexion is committed to spreading messages of love and positivity through his clean lyrics and lovers’ rock style, resonating deeply within the music industry and in the hearts of his listeners.

Korexion’s impressive career includes winning a prestigious Canadian Juno Award for Best Reggae Recording of the Year, along with several other accolades. Recently, he has been reconnecting with his roots, blending modern rhythms with classic reggae echoes in his latest singles. He has signed with the Canadian independent label 3P Entertainment and released a new EP titled “Dreams,” which features both new songs and tracks from previous releases. The title track, “Dreams,” set to release on April 5th, 2021, will be promoted on all streaming platforms and radio waves.

This weekend, Korexion will headline the Annual African Descent Summit 2024 in Toronto, presented by African Descent Ontario (ADSON). This event, held from July 17th to July 20th at the Toronto Pavilion, 190 Railside Road, North York, Ontario, celebrates the theme “Recognition, Justice, and Development.” The summit coincides with the conclusion of the UN International Decade for People of African Descent, making it a momentous occasion to reflect on progress and ongoing challenges.

The African Descent Summit 2024 will feature distinguished speakers and panelists who will examine the impact of the UN declaration over the past nine years. It will also showcase African Canadian artists in a vibrant exhibition of talent, celebrating the cultural heritage and creativity of the African diaspora in Canada.

The summit aims to engage stakeholders and unite artists, performers, cultural enthusiasts, and advocates in promoting measures to combat discrimination, foster diversity and equity, and uphold human dignity. Through music, art, and culture, the event seeks to drive positive change and advocate for the rights and well-being of people of African descent in Canada and beyond.
