Manchester United is reportedly prepared to make a significant move in the January transfer window, targeting Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi from FC Porto. The Red Devils are rumored to offer a lucrative package of €30 million, including an annual after-tax salary of €4.5 million, to secure the services of the goal-scoring sensation.

With a challenging start to the season and a potential early exit from the Champions League looming, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is actively seeking reinforcements to strengthen the squad. Taremi, known for his prolific performances at FC Porto, has become a prime target for the Red Devils.

Ten Hag’s focus in the January transfer window is to bolster the team’s defensive and attacking options. The 31-year-old Taremi, having been a standout performer for FC Porto over the last three seasons, is seen as a seasoned striker who can provide valuable experience and goal-scoring prowess to the struggling Manchester United side.

Despite a slight dip in his output this season, Taremi’s track record includes 83 goals and 53 assists in 160 matches for Porto. His playing style, not solely dependent on pace, aligns with Manchester United’s attacking strategy, making him a suitable addition to the squad.

Taremi’s contract with FC Porto expires at the end of the season, making a cut-price January transfer a plausible option for Manchester United. The reported cost for acquiring the Iranian international in the winter window is €10 million, with the Red Devils willing to offer a three-and-a-half-year contract.

The entire valuation of the proposed deal is estimated at €30 million, making it an attractive prospect for Manchester United. Despite Taremi’s limited exposure to Europe’s top five leagues, the potential transfer represents a strategic move by the club to address its current challenges and enhance the attacking options for the remainder of the season.
