National Unity Platform Unveils Smaller, Yet Expanded New Headquarters in Makerere
The National Unity Platform (NUP) has inaugurated its new head offices in Makerere, a facility notably smaller than the initially proposed complex revealed in July 2022. Situated in Makerere Kavule along Bombo Road in Kawempe division, the unveiling was spearheaded by party president Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), accompanied by key party figures and numerous guests.
Davidson Rubongoya, the NUP Secretary-General, addressed the ongoing debate concerning the scaled-down size of the new offices compared to the grand plans announced previously.

Originally, the party had envisioned constructing a towering 4-story headquarters, aiming for the largest political party facility in the country. However, financial constraints led to a revision of the plan.
Rubongoya clarified that financial limitations steered them away from the initial grand design, citing the colossal cost of over 4 billion shillings, which the party couldn’t afford.

The newly launched offices, according to Rubongoya, were established at less than 10% of the original budget. Nevertheless, he highlighted the achievement of expanding the space by acquiring surrounding plots and buildings.
Initially set for launch yesterday, the inauguration was postponed to today due to security clearance issues, as President Yoweri Museveni was expected in the same vicinity. The office launch was still underway at the time of this report’s publication.
