Nicki Minaj Teases Remix for “FTCU” from Pink Friday 2, Asks Fans to Choose Male Rapper Collaborator
Nicki Minaj has hinted at the possibility of a remix for “FTCU” from her Pink Friday 2 album. In a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday (January 3), the rapper teased that the remix could feature a male rapper and asked her Barbz to share their guesses.
“If there were a male rapper featured on the 3rd verse of “FTCU,” who would be your guess? #PinkFriday2,” she wrote.
Nicki Minaj’s highly anticipated album, released on December 8, made headlines for apparent shots at perceived female rap rivals, including Megan Thee Stallion and Latto. On “FTCU,” Nicki seemingly takes aim at Megan, referencing Tory Lanez and Iggy Azalea.
“Stay in your Tory lane, bitch, I’m not Iggy,” she warns over speaker-rattling, trap-flavored production from ATL Jacob.
Fans took notice of the apparent diss, with various reactions on social media. Some expressed amusement, while others questioned the ongoing one-sided rap beef.
Despite the controversy surrounding the album, Charlamagne Tha God criticized the rollout for Pink Friday 2 on The Breakfast Club, stating that Nicki Minaj deserved a more extensive promotional plan. He emphasized the need for singles and videos to accompany the release, suggesting that labels should not solely rely on artists’ social media followings for promotion.
“I hate that this album didn’t have a bigger rollout. We knew it was coming out, but it’s Nicki Minaj,” he said. “Whoever she’s signed to… Nicki needed and deserved a bigger rollout. She got records on this album. Why wouldn’t a single come out? Why wouldn’t a big video come out?”
He concluded, “The label in general should have had a bigger plan for a Nicki Minaj album. I am sick of big artists dropping and there’s no rollout. […] Labels have to stop relying on artists and their social media followings to get the word out.”
