Lil Tecca has kicked off 2024 on a high note with his latest track, “Down on Me,” suggesting that the young superstar is ready to dominate the year. Directed by Lil Tecca himself and produced by Massimo Cancelliere, the music video officially premiered on December 29, accumulating over 2 million views in a short time. The native New Yorker actively teased and promoted the track on his Instagram page, contributing to its rapid success.
In the song, Lil Tecca delivers impactful lyrics: “Show me somethin’ I ain’t never seen, won’t be easy for me, yeah-yeah / All the time that I could hear ‘em speak, that sh*t been hard to believe, yeah-yeah / Tables turned but you gon’ fuck around and wish you still had your seat, yeah-yeah / She said, ‘Tecca, boy, you think you the shit,’ but who fuckin’ with me? Woah, woah.”
Last week, Lil Tecca shared his New Year’s resolutions with XXL, revealing plans to diversify his creative portfolio in 2024. The “Ransom” rapper expressed a desire to take acting lessons and venture into directing a TV show. Additionally, he aims to create a video game that allows interaction with non-playable characters, similar to Grand Theft Auto.
While Lil Tecca’s latest track has garnered positive attention, 2023 saw him face criticism for a snippet of an unreleased track that sampled Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine.” The clip, shared online, received backlash for perceived lack of originality and misuse of a valuable sample. Lil Tecca, however, continues to push creative boundaries and explore new avenues in the entertainment industry.
