Law enforcement authorities have detained Matsiko Farouk, a 27-year-old man, over suspicions of ties to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). The arrest took place on October 23, 2023, while Matsiko was residing in Kafunda cell within Ibanda Municipality. Despite suggestions of mistaken identity, he was taken into custody.

According to Police spokesperson Fred Enanga, Matsiko was reportedly abducted, alongside five others, by the ADF back in 2015 at the treacherous River Nyamwamba in Kasese. He was then taken to the Kilembe highlands of Mount Rwenzori, located deep within the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he purportedly underwent training to become an Intelligence Officer for the infamous rebel group.

Enanga explained that Matsiko, familiar with various regions such as Bundibugyo, Bwera, Luwero, and Najjanankumbi, claimed to have escaped from the California ADF Camp in 2018. With courage and determination, he journeyed back to his home village in Kafunda cell, Ibanda district, where he initially resided. Later, he shifted to Nyanga cell in Mahyoro sub-county, Kitagwenda district, engaging in casual work.

In a separate development, the territorial police at Central Police Station (CPS) in Kampala apprehended an 18-year-old individual known by the alias Kadogo, identified as Komaketch Ransur. Found in possession of live ammunitions, Komaketch disclosed a distressing tale upon interrogation.
