In a surprising turn of events, residents of Busagula Village in Kigangazi Town Council, Bukomansimbi District, recently witnessed the resurrection of a tree that had fallen seven years ago. The tree, known locally as “omutuba,” had spent a remarkable 30 years growing before heavy rains and a storm in 2016 brought it down.

This week, residents from various villages gathered to witness the miraculous sight of the tree standing tall once again, seemingly defying the laws of nature. According to locals, the tree had not only fallen but its roots were completely uprooted from the ground.

Enock Mukalazi, a resident of Busagula, owns the garden where this extraordinary event occurred. Residents expressed their amazement at the unexpected revival of the tree, with some describing it as a blessing from a higher power.

Tusasirwa Florence, a resident of Busagula village, shared her astonishment, stating, “Last week, I fetched firewood from this Mutuba tree, and I have been doing so for a while. But I got surprised when I was told that it had risen up.”

This event has prompted various reactions from the community. Some residents see it as a divine blessing and have started placing coins and coffee seeds under the tree while kneeling in prayer, seeking blessings from their ancestors.

The village of Busagula has a history of witnessing unusual occurrences. Joseph Lugudde, the LC1 Chairperson of Busagula, mentioned that the village has its own set of norms and beliefs. Years ago, their ancestors would climb a hill and pray to bring rain to the village, but those traditions seem to have faded with time.

Despite the awe and reverence surrounding the tree’s unexpected resurgence, Mary Nassiwa, a traditional healer, issued a warning. She advised residents against approaching the tree directly, suggesting that it might carry a bad omen. Nassiwa urged the community to fence the area around the tree to prevent any potential disruptions to the village’s harmony, emphasizing the importance of respecting traditional beliefs.
