Fresh Faces: UNCC Welcomes New Trustees to Boost Arts and Culture

News from yesterday’s meeting at State House Entebbe reveals that UNCC has approved new members for the Board of Trustees. The approved members include Prof. Okaka Opio as the chairperson, Josephine Munyagwa as the deputy chairperson, Bugingo Hanington, Lilian Mbabazi, Richard Komakech, Joseph Mayanja (Dr. Jose Chameleone), Moses Ssali (Bebe Cool), Charles Batambuze, Phina Mugerwa, and Juliana Naumo.

Established in 1959, the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) is a statutory body tasked with establishing theatres and cultural centers, promoting cultural and artistic activities, and providing a space for art, culture, and entertainment groups.

Despite efforts to revive the arts and culture sector, practitioners blame the perceived delays and stagnation on the Uganda National Cultural Centre, accusing it of being inactive in its responsibilities.
