Lil Nas X, known for his chart-topping hits like “MONTERO” and “INDUSTRY BABY,” is making a highly-anticipated return to the music scene. After a relatively quiet period in 2022, the Georgia native took to social media to announce his upcoming single, “J CHRIST,” along with its cover art and release date.
Nas X attributed his reduced musical output in 2023 to feeling “blackballed” due to “promoting God to the masses,” as reported by Billboard. The artist hinted at exposing the music industry and expressed concerns about his safety. Additionally, he previously declared his intention to enter his “Christian era.”
According to Pitchfork, Lil Nas X shared that “J CHRIST” is dedicated to “the man who had the greatest comeback of all time.” The single is set to be released on Friday, January 12. Notably, there are rumors that this track will be put out independently, rather than through Columbia Records. Nas X clarified that his label gave him the option of going independent to release his gospel music or staying with them.
Fans are eager to see how Lil Nas X’s return to the spotlight unfolds and whether “J CHRIST” will mark a new chapter in his musical journey. Stay tuned for the release and further details on this much-anticipated single.
