Billboard reported on Wednesday (January 17) that Megan Thee Stallion is set to fly to Tokyo to present at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards on March 2. The Houston Hottie, known for her love of anime, expressed excitement about the opportunity to attend the event and present an award, highlighting her passion for cosplaying and the diverse storytelling and art styles in anime.
The 28-year-old artist stated, “I’m really excited for the opportunity to attend and present an award at this year’s Crunchyroll Anime Awards. I’m looking forward to traveling to Tokyo and joining my fellow anime lovers as we celebrate and honor the best anime creators and shows in the world.” Fans can vote in all 26 categories until January 27.
Beyond her foray into the animation space, Megan Thee Stallion is gearing up for a busy 2024 after a relatively quiet year in 2023 due to the resolution of the Tory Lanez shooting trial, which resulted in Lanez being sentenced to 10 years behind bars in August.
Expressing her excitement for the upcoming era, Megan stated, “I’m excited for this era because I get to do everything that I want to do, when I want to do it. And I’m about to give everybody what they’ve been looking for, good or bad. Like, if you’ve been calling for me, here I come. Calling for me, like, ‘Megan, come on, pop out,’ calling for me any kind of way? I’m coming.”
Earlier this month, Megan contributed to the Mean Girls musical soundtrack and played a Regina George-like persona in the music video for “Not My Fault” with Reneé Rapp. The song’s title references a quote from the Mean Girls character Cady, and Megan’s lyrics showcase her confidence and influence in the industry.
