Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has officially called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to initiate a thorough investigation targeting individuals spreading what she termed as false and harmful information about her on social media.

In an announcement dated October 25, 2023, Charles Odongtho, the Spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, noted a surge in assaults against the Prime Minister, particularly via unidentified media accounts.

“The most recent smear campaign involves a video circulating on social media, purportedly featuring someone resembling the Prime Minister,” Odongtho stated.

Despite Nabbanja denying being the person in the video, Odongtho disclosed that certain opponents persistently shared the video, falsely asserting the individual is the Prime Minister.

“Today, the Prime Minister has brought this issue to the IGP’s attention, urging the Criminal Investigations Directorate to carry out a comprehensive investigation to identify those responsible for disseminating such deceitful, defamatory, and damaging content, understand their motivations, and ensure legal repercussions,” Odongtho explained.

Despite these troubling actions aimed at diverting her from her duties, Odongtho confirmed that Nabbanja remains dedicated to her primary responsibilities.

“The public is advised to treat the circulated video with the contempt it deserves,” he concluded.
