Prominent Educationist James Vincent Kamwesiga Passes Away

James Vincent Kamwesiga, a prominent educationist and Catholic Church laity leader, has passed away a few days after collapsing at his residence in Kampala. The renowned figure in education and Catholic leadership breathed his last on Saturday.

The funeral proceedings commenced with a Mass at Lweza Parish Church and will continue today at the new St Angela Bugema sub-parish Church, Katale Bugema in Bunamwaya—a testament to his contributions as he played a pivotal role in its construction.

Kamwesiga, recognized as the laity leader (Ssabakristu emeritus) of Lweza Parish in Kampala Archdiocese, was also the proprietor and director of Mantopal schools, encompassing nursery and primary schools.

Apart from his notable presence in the education sector, Kamwesiga was actively involved in politics, particularly as a leading figure in Kinkizi West. His diverse roles included serving as a one-time Personal Assistant to Former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi.

At the time of his passing, Kamwesiga was pursuing further studies as a First Year BSWASA student at Ndejje University. His legacy as an educationist, Catholic leader, and political figure leaves a lasting impact on those who knew him.
