During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday (October 30), Diddy playfully responded to the recent claims made by his former bodyguard, Gene Deal, hinting at a confrontation with Will Smith over Jennifer Lopez. However, he managed to sidestep addressing the accuracy of the story.
When asked about the claim during the interview, the 53-year-old music mogul initially looked stern but then responded, “Yo, this show has gotten crazier since the last time I was here… you really heard that? I don’t know what you’re talkin’ about. Jimmy, I thought we was friends.”
Deal previously brought up the alleged incident during an interview with The Art of Dialogue last month, recalling an event at the Four Seasons during a birthday party for Ben Affleck thrown by Matt Damon. According to Deal, Puff had suspicions about Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith’s intentions toward Lopez and signaled a physical response, asking Deal to stand by.
Reflecting on the memory, Deal humorously stated his doubts about Diddy’s chances in a fight with Will Smith but acknowledged Diddy’s scrappiness.

The specifics of when the incident occurred remain unclear, but it would likely have taken place during Diddy and Jennifer Lopez’s relationship between 1999 and 2001. The pair dated after meeting on a music video set.
