In the latest episode of Cam’ron and Ma$e’s sports talk show, “It Is What It Is,” Jermaine Dupri was a featured guest, and both hosts took the opportunity to express their gratitude and acknowledge the Atlanta artist and producer for his significant impact on their respective careers.

Cam’ron and Ma$e, along with guest Maurice Clarett and Nelly, showered praise on Dupri during the show. Cam’ron, starting around the 2:07 mark, thanked J.D. for his work on Cam’ron’s debut album, “Confessions of Fire,” released in 1998. Cam acknowledged that he may not have given Dupri the proper credit at the time, expressing gratitude for Dupri’s contribution to the album and reflecting on his own youthful arrogance.

Cam’ron said, “[H]e’s on my first album with two different cuts, actually did a hook for me. When I was young, I was real arrogant because my man Ma$e just sold four million records, and I’m thinking I’m supposed to sell four million records. And I don’t think I ever gave J.D. his flowers for even doing what he did for me.”

He continued, “It meant a lot to me that you did that for me because you invited me to your house, and you didn’t have to do that. So I just want to tell you thank you in front of everybody, because I probably never even did it privately, let alone publicly.”

Later in the show, Ma$e expressed his gratitude towards Jermaine Dupri, highlighting Dupri as “the first guy to ever pay me what I was really worth talent-wise.” Ma$e thanked Dupri sincerely, saying, “I’m forever indebted to you for allowing me to be rich. You gave me my first million dollars.”

In addition to the acknowledgment on the show, Jermaine Dupri has been making waves with his upcoming projects. Recently, he teased a new song featuring Nelly, Ashanti, and Juicy J, using a chorus inspired by the 1995 track “This Lil’ Game We Play” by Subway and 702. Dupri shared a teaser of the song on January 3, revealing that it will be part of his upcoming EP slated for release later in 2024 through Mass Appeal.

This collaboration will mark the reunion of Ashanti and Nelly on a track, their first since 2008’s “Body On Me.”
