Megan Thee Stallion’s “HISS” Claims No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100, Sharing Record with Nicki Minaj

Megan Thee Stallion and her rival Nicki Minaj now stand together in the annals of music history as Megan’s latest single, “HISS,” secures the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. According to Chart Data, the Houston Hottie and the “Big Foot” rapper are now the only female artists to debut multiple songs at No.1 on the Hot 100 tally.

Megan’s achievement with “HISS” marks her third single to top the chart, following her 2020 hits “Savage” with Beyoncé and “WAP” alongside Cardi B. Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj claimed the top position with her verses on Doja Cat’s “Say So” in 2019, 6ix9ine’s “Trollz” in 2020, and her solo hit “Super Freaky Girl,” released in 2023.

In the midst of their ongoing public feud, Megan Thee Stallion recently responded to Nicki Minaj’s claims that Roc Nation, the label managing Megan, is orchestrating negative campaigns against her on social media. During an appearance on the live radio app Stationhead, Megan warned Nicki with a playful threat, saying, “Don’t make me call Roc Nation.”

The back-and-forth continues, with Megan addressing “HISS” challenging for the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and responding, seemingly, to one of Nicki’s bars. Megan stated, “If we go number one, bitch, I might put the straw back in the Hennessy.” Many interpreted this as a response to Nicki’s line in “Big Foot”: “Your flow is such a bore/ Drinkin’ a bottle of Henny through a straw.”

These remarks from Megan come after a diss track aimed at her, where Nicki mocked sensitive subjects like the death of Megan’s mother, the Tory Lanez shooting incident, and rumored liposuction, among other things. Nicki has faced criticism for her handling of the feud, particularly for comparing the Tory Lanez shooting to Chris Brown’s infamous assault on Rihanna in 2009. Additionally, she has denied accusations of cocaine use following a social media “coke rant” accusation.
