Jennifer Lopez has encountered a bump in the road as she gears up for her highly anticipated North American tour, her first in five years, in support of her latest album, This Is Me… Now. Unfortunately, the singer and her team have made the decision to cancel seven shows scheduled from August 20 to 31 in Cleveland (August 20), Nashville (22), Raleigh (24), Atlanta (25), Tampa (27), New Orleans (30), and Houston (31). This change was confirmed by Ticketmaster, although seating charts for these shows are still available as of press time. While reports from other sources suggest low ticket sales as the cause, no official statement has been released by Lopez or her team to confirm this speculation.
Jennifer Lopez’s new album was part of a comprehensive multimedia rollout, reportedly funded entirely by the artist herself. As part of this ambitious project, two visual endeavors were also unveiled last month: a musical film titled This Is Me… Now: A Love Story and The Greatest Love Story Never Told, a documentary delving into the album’s creation and Lopez’s romantic journey with Ben Affleck. Speaking to Variety in a recent interview, Lopez expressed the challenges she faced with her decisions, whether in her personal relationships or career endeavors.
The news of the canceled tour dates has disappointed many fans, but there is a glimmer of hope with additional nights added in Miami (June 29), Toronto (August 3), and New York (August 17), as announced by Live Nation on Thursday (March 14). Sources have indicated to Billboard that the cancellations were due to routing issues, with plans to announce new dates soon. It remains uncertain whether the new dates will replace the canceled shows or supplement them.
Despite any setbacks, Jennifer Lopez’s unwavering commitment to her craft and her resilience in the face of challenges continue to inspire. With her undeniable talent and superstar status, fans remain hopeful for a successful tour ahead. Stay tuned for further updates on Jennifer Lopez’s tour and other developments in her career.
