Beyoncé, Frank Ocean, and SZA Shine on Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest R&B Songs of the 21st Century
Rolling Stone recently unveiled its list of the 100 Greatest R&B Songs of the 21st Century, featuring iconic tracks from top artists like Beyoncé, Frank Ocean, and SZA.
Beyoncé, known for her incredible solo career and Destiny’s Child days, secured multiple spots on the list. Her solo hits “1+1” (No. 27) and “Dangerously in Love” (No. 3) showcased her vocal prowess, while Destiny’s Child’s “Cater 2 U” (No. 21) highlighted the group’s undeniable talent.
Frank Ocean, the former Odd Future member, claimed the No. 6 spot with his soulful masterpiece “Thinkin’ About You.” SZA, on the other hand, landed at No. 19 with “Snooze,” contributing to her impressive body of work.
Other notable artists featured on the list include Ginuwine, Bruno Mars, and Mariah Carey. However, Usher claimed the top spot with his timeless hit “Confessions Pt. 2.”
In a similar vein, HipHopDX released its list of the top R&B albums of 2023 in November, placing PinkPantheress at the pinnacle. Her debut album, “Heaven Knows,” showcased a blend of avant-garde synths, electronic dance, and percussion beats, delivering a poetic and dramatic compilation of breakup songs.
SZA also received recognition for her record-breaking sophomore album, “SOS.” After a five-year gap since her debut album “CTRL,” SZA’s “SOS” provided fans with her perspective on her absence and personal experiences. The album achieved remarkable milestones, with the hit single “Snooze” spending the entire year on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, surpassing records set by legends like Whitney Houston and Mary J. Blige.
