Kanye West’s “The Life Of Pablo” Makes a Chart Comeback on Billboard 200
Over the weekend, Billboard unveiled the first updated version of the Billboard 200 chart for 2024. This chart tracks the albums that are most streamed and played on the radio in a given week. The latest chart features several Taylor Swift albums in the top 10, sharing the spotlight with artists like SZA, Morgan Wallen, Noah Kahan, and Zach Bryan. Unlike the Hot 100, where hit songs might fade away, albums can persist on the Billboard 200 for many years.
It’s not uncommon for older, once-chart-topping albums to resurface on the charts years later. Recent weeks have seen albums like Future’s DS2, Juice WRLD’s Legends Never Die, and J. Cole’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive occupying the lower ranks of the albums chart. Last week, three of Kanye West’s albums secured spots on the chart, with Graduation (2007) narrowly entering the top 100, joined by his debut, The College Dropout, and the 5th album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Now, another of the rap icon’s albums, The Life Of Pablo from 2016, has made its return to the Billboard 200.
The renewed interest in West’s music might be tied to the anticipation surrounding his upcoming album, Vultures. Announced with Ty Dolla $ign late last year after releasing the single of the same name, the project was initially expected last month. However, the release dates have come and gone, with the most recent date slated for later this week, though it has since been removed. Last month, a leaked version of the project emerged online, potentially contributing to the project’s multiple delays.
Kanye West has been sharing a series of peculiar pictures on Instagram, featuring Bianca Censori in scantily clad shots. In one image, West even pledges not to wear pants this year.
