Rick Ross Weighs in on JAY-Z vs. Nas Feud: “They Both Handled Their Business”
Rick Ross has stepped into the long-standing debate over who came out on top in the feud between JAY-Z and Nas, offering his perspective on the historic rivalry.
During an appearance on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, the MMG mogul delved into the legendary beef between the two rap icons, both of whom he has collaborated with.
Reflecting on the feud, Ross highlighted the significance of both artists’ responses, emphasizing their resilience. “I feel like they both handled their business,” he remarked. “Because they both shot back. And to me, that’s what it’s about because a lot of times n-ggas will tap out. They both shot back and they both kept going.”
While Ross refrained from declaring a definitive winner, others have been more outspoken about their opinions on the matter. Dame Dash, the former Roc-A-Fella co-founder who worked closely with JAY-Z before their fallout, previously expressed his belief that Nas emerged victorious.
In an appearance on the That’s F***ed Up Podcast last year, Dash criticized JAY-Z’s response to Nas’s scathing diss track “Ether,” labeling it as “terrible.” He recalled his disappointment with JAY-Z’s retaliation, citing it as a pivotal moment in the feud.
Despite the ongoing discourse surrounding the feud, JAY-Z and Nas have since reconciled and collaborated multiple times. Nas even referenced their rivalry in his 2022 song “Thun,” revealing that they now share lighthearted banter about the feud over text messages.
As the debate continues to linger among hip-hop enthusiasts, the enduring impact of JAY-Z and Nas’s feud underscores its significance in shaping the genre’s landscape.
