The ongoing feud between Lupe Fiasco and Kid Cudi has taken a new turn as Kid Cudi attempts to extend an olive branch. On Friday (January 19), Cudi took to X (formerly Twitter) to issue an apology for his past remarks about Lupe Fiasco during the latter’s pre-fame era.

In a conciliatory message, Cudi expressed remorse, saying, “Love u g. Im sorry if i hurt u man. Life is too short. Hope u can find it in ur heart to get past this.” Despite the apology and a direct message sent to Lupe, the response was not what Cudi hoped for.

Lupe Fiasco, in a firm rejection of the apology, stated that he hadn’t received a DM from Cudi. He emphasized that a direct conversation was necessary for any reconciliation. “On second thought homey, this ain’t enough…you need to talk to me,” Lupe declared in response to Cudi’s plea.

The recent clash between the two artists follows an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, where Kid Cudi recounted a near-encounter with Lupe in 2008 at the BAPE store in New York City. Cudi revealed that he deliberately stayed out of sight when Lupe visited the store, fearing that his retail job could be used against him in the future.

Lupe Fiasco responded vehemently to Cudi’s statements, unleashing a series of tweets in which he criticized Cudi and referenced his pre-fame career. Lupe accused Cudi of being a “bitch” and highlighted the irony of Cudi using his past employment at the Bape Store to avoid potential conflicts.

The dispute escalated as Lupe detailed the history of their beef, revealing that he felt betrayed when Kid Cudi called him out in 2014 over charging fans $500 for a personalized verse. Despite attempts to address the issue directly, Lupe claimed that Kid Cudi evaded communication and avoided face-to-face encounters.

In response to a fan suggesting that Cudi’s prediction from his retail days had come true, Lupe dismissed it, stating, “A beef he started with a n-gga who actually looked out for him? Make that make sense. Cudi a bitch.” The animosity between the two artists seems to be deepening, with Lupe Fiasco declaring, “Now it’s fuck him 4 life and keep my name out your mouth bitch…”
