Joey Bada$$ Teams Up with KayCyy for Birthday Release “Passports & Suitcases”

In celebration of his birthday, rapper and actor Joey Bada$$ took to Instagram on Friday (January 19), urging fans to “RUN IT UP & DROP A [suitcase emoji]” in response to his latest release.

The accompanying video features Joey, sporting a camel-colored beanie, seated amidst an array of designer suitcases, setting the scene for a romantic escapade.

In the lyrics, Joey expresses the desire for carefree happiness and proposes an impromptu trip with his significant other. While some fans showered the track with fire emojis, others yearned for the return of the classic “boom bap Joey Badass.”

The release follows recent reports of Joey’s character, Unique, facing removal from the popular Power spinoff, Power Book III: Raising Kanan. Speaking to TMZ alongside his girlfriend Serayah in New York City, Joey expressed disappointment but attributed it to the challenges of balancing his dual careers.

Acknowledging his frustration, Joey stated, “I was very mad. I was upset. Unfortunately, I do have two careers that I’m balancing. So I had to go on tour, and we just kinda couldn’t make it work. So they had to take out Unique. Who knows, though. Maybe we can start a petition or something and tell 50 Cent to bring me back.”

Although he kept details about the tour under wraps, Joey hinted at the impending release of new music, keeping his promise to fans. “New music is coming, definitely soon. This month, actually. This is my birthday month, so I’m definitely gon’ put something out in a couple of weeks,” declared the rapper, celebrating his 29th birthday on Saturday (January 20th).
