The Queens, New York legend admitted that he wasn’t caught off guard by the power couple getting back together, mentioning that he had a hunch Ashanti “wanted that old thing back.”

During the interview, Ja Rule revealed that he, along with his wife, noticed the chemistry between Ashanti and Nelly. He acknowledged the signs that indicated the desire for a rekindled romance, stating that sometimes women show it when they want “that old thing back.” While being cautious not to disclose too much, Ja Rule emphasized the quick return of their connection and suggested that they missed each other.

The reunion rumors first surfaced in February when Ashanti and Nelly were seen wearing the same chain in separate photos. Nelly later confirmed their relationship during an appearance on Boss Moves With Rasheeda in September, expressing surprise at how quickly they reconnected after being apart.

The couple stirred more speculation in December during Nelly’s Black White Ball in St. Louis. A viral clip showed Nelly and Ashanti onstage, with Nelly rubbing Ashanti’s stomach. The act fueled rumors of Ashanti’s pregnancy, with online observers suggesting that Nelly had “knocked up” Ashanti. The couple, however, has yet to address the pregnancy rumors.
