Following KCCA FC’s fifth consecutive loss of the season, interim head coach Jackson Magera emphasized the need for a shift in mentality and greater responsibility within the team. The most recent defeat took place on Thursday night at Lugogo, where they faced NEC and lost 2-0, with Cromwell Rwothomio playing a decisive role in securing the victory for the opposing team.

This string of defeats has left KCCA FC in a challenging position, as they now find themselves at the bottom of the 16-team StarTimes Uganda Premier League table. Coach Jackson Magera expressed his determination to confront this challenging situation during a post-match press conference.

Magera’s words were clear and resolute: “We have no choice but to fight until the last hour.” He continued, “The players need to know the level and weight of the club they are playing for and play with more responsibility.”

Hopes were high that KCCA FC would secure their first three points of the season after the previous defeats to BUL (1-0), Maroons (2-1), Express (2-1), and Kitara (3-1). However, the match against NEC did not yield the expected outcome.

“We didn’t defend with responsibility, and we also created chances, but we didn’t take them,” noted Coach Magera, reflecting on the performance.

The question arises: How does the team emerge from this challenging situation? According to Magera, “We need to change our mentality and to play with responsibility in post-moments of the game.”

KCCA FC is now faced with a demanding schedule ahead. They are set to make a long journey to West Nile for a match against Arua Hill on October 31st. This is followed by a game against reigning champions Vipers at Lugogo on November 10th. The team’s upcoming fixtures also include a trip to Busoga United and a home tie against Soltilo Bright Stars, before ultimately facing SC Villa at Wankulukuku.

The road ahead for KCCA FC is challenging, but with a shift in mentality and an emphasis on playing with greater responsibility, the team aims to turn their season around and secure positive results in the upcoming matches. The journey ahead is one of determination and resilience as they work to climb the league table and regain their winning form.
