The West Nile Regional League (WNRL) has officially released its fixtures for the upcoming season. This third division league, located in the far reaches of the country, is renowned for its competitiveness and the exciting matchups it produces.

The fixtures announced currently cover the first round of matches and will span over an impressive eleven-week period, running from November 3, 2023, to January 21, 2024.

The league consists of a total of 24 teams, evenly divided into two groups, each comprising 12 teams: Nyagak Zone and Nile Zone.

Over the past two seasons, Nebbi Central has consistently outperformed its competitors in the Nyagak Zone, earning a spot in the playoffs against Nile Zone representatives Adjumani Town Council and Kochi Urban. Unfortunately, Nebbi Central faced defeat in both encounters.

Kochi Urban, following their inability to progress past Young Elephants in the second playoff round to the Big League, will once again compete against Araka and Adjumani Town Council in the Nile zone. The competitiveness in this zone is further heightened by Adjumani Town Council’s relegation from the second division.

In the opening fixtures of the Nile Zone, Adjumani Town Council will face off against Koboko Rising Stars at Nyarulo ground. Kochi Urban will kickstart their campaign against Yumbe Heroes at Boma ground, and Araka will host Yumbe Hospital at the same venue the following day.

In the Nyagak Zone, one of the most anticipated fixtures is the Alur derby. Nebbi Central will play host to Paidha Black Angels at the Luo ground on Saturday, December 10. The Paidha derby between Black Angels and United is scheduled for early next year, with the Blacks hosting their neighbors at Bar Okoro stadium on January 1.
