Police have barred the National Unity Platform (NUP) Kunga Makindye Chapter event at Lukuli, Makindye Division. The party president, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, was also expected to be present. The police warned NUP to abandon plans for political demonstrations outside the provisions of the Public Order Management Act 1.

This is not the first time that NUP has faced challenges from the police. In October 2023, 45 NUP supporters were charged in court over illegal assembly 2. The suspects were arrested as they allegedly prepared to welcome back the NUP party leader at Entebbe International Airport.
