Mariah Carey’s Son, Moroccan, Makes Rap Debut at Mom’s Christmas Concert

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey’s 12-year-old son, Moroccan, stepped into the spotlight with his official rap debut during his mother’s Christmas concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on November 17. Jermaine Dupri joined the young artist on stage, adding an extra layer of excitement to the festive event.

During Mariah’s performance of “Here Comes Santa Claus,” Moroccan took the stage to deliver some bars on the classic holiday track. Despite a hint of nervousness, he confidently commanded the stage, showcasing the natural talent expected from the offspring of one of the world’s most legendary singers.

While Moroccan is embracing the stage, Nick Cannon shared earlier this year that Mariah Carey tends to be more private when it comes to sharing their children on social media. Speaking on The Jason Lee Podcast in May, Nick mentioned Mariah’s preference for privacy. He highlighted Moroccan’s occasional appearances on Twitch but acknowledged the importance of maintaining a balance and setting boundaries as they navigate their teenage years.

Cannon also discussed Mariah’s role in ensuring a positive environment for their children. “She’s high frequency. She’s like, ‘You alright? How you doing? You handling it all?’ And she’s like, ‘As long as you don’t bring that bullshit to the manor of Carey.’ She lives in her own world. Nothing can infiltrate that. When we talk daily, she just checks in on my spirit,” he revealed.

Although Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey were married from 2008 to 2016, Cannon expressed deep admiration and love for his ex-wife during a 2022 segment on The Hot Tee Talk Show. When asked if he would “spin the block” for Mariah Carey, Cannon responded without hesitation, saying, “Of course. That’s my fantasy. That’s somebody I will always love. I will never have a love like I had with Mariah. If I had the opportunity … if it could be the way that it was? Pfft. I’m there.” He playfully referenced Carey’s 1995 hit, “Always Be My Baby,” and concluded, “We belong together.”
